About Maia Huang

Seeking help for difficult problems is not an easy step, but it is possible to develop great changes in your life. I work holistically, using the arts and different forms of psychotherapy to embrace the entirety of your sociocultural background, physical form, life experiences, and spirituality. Together we can explore

~ Where you are now
~ Your past and childhood experiences
~ How you interact in relationships
~ What you want to create in your life
~ How to get to where you want to be

As the founder of Healing Arts Psychotherapy, I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therpist (MFC# 45154) and Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT), who specializes in working with individuals, couples, and groups from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles. I enjoy working with adult clients of all ethinicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, physical abilities, and religious affiliations.

I have been a psychotherapist since 2003 and worked in the helping professions for the past sixteen years as a counselor and community advocate. Some highlights of populations I have served and continue to provide therapeutic services for include:

~ Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender/Queer/Questioning/Intersex Communities
~ Immigrants and Clients from Ethnically Diverse Backgrounds
~ Patients with Chronic Pain or Terminal Illnesses such as AIDS/HIV
~ Same-Sex and Straight Couples
~ Polyamorous Groups
~ Clients with Addictions

In addition to holistic psychotherapy, my interest in guided imagery meditation and the arts sets the stage for a creative space of healing. I have a compassionate presence and warm, supportive approach that makes people feel comfortable being themselves. I try to gently ask the difficult questions required to move people past the places where they get stuck, and ultimately, find a space of self-acceptance and healing.
