Guided Imagery Meditation

~ Are you plagued with chronic pain in your body?

~ Do you find yourself racing around without a moment to slow down and breathe?

~ Are you having difficult feelings of anxiety or depression that make you want to

   turn to addictive substances?

~ Do you have problems feeling grounded or centered because you're overwhelmed

by your feelings or external stimuli?

Guided Imagery Meditation may be helpful for all of these issues, as well as others. It is a gentle tool used to slow down the body, focus on the breath, and visualize through the help of the therapist's voice. Similar, yet different from hypnotherapy, guided imagery meditation helps you to quiet the constant chatter of the mind. Through processes such as body scanning or progressive muscle relaxation, you learn to pay attention to the inherent wisdom of the physical body. Various forms of breathwork bring calming energy to the senses, allowing the chi (energy) of the body to settle and ground.

In individual therapy, the therapist softy guides you in a process of visualization that is discussed prior to the actual meditation to focus on the issues you desire to explore or manifest. This engages the imaginative process to see imagery through the internal eye, similar to the process of dreaming. In group settings, Guided Imagery Meditation is effective to center people's energetic fields, and is supported by the communal breath of the group. Often, people report a sense of peace, tranquility, or spaciousness.
